NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Brunette Review
I own Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder in Ash brown. The color is more gray than brown, so I was looking for some brown shadow. I have purchased NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Brunette, and my review is about it.
NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder is placed in a plastic case, which is quite good. It closes tightly, and you don’t need to worry about it opening while you are traveling.
The brow kit includes two shadows, wax, an angled brush, and a round wand. Even though the wand is small, I like it. It does its job well by pointing eyebrow hair in the right direction. I do not like the angled brush. Its hairs are rough, and it is very thick. It is simply impossible to use it.
The kit is made in Taiwan, and there are 2.65 grams of the product. Its expiration date after opening is 12 months.
Texture and other Characteristics
NYX brow shadows are soft and silky; at the same time they are very dusty. In this photo you can see little flakes from the shadows. The same happens when you apply them on your brows. I just clean the flakes to make sure that they don’t get all over my face.
The shadows have average pigmentation and are patchy. I have to apply several layers to get a brighter color. Good news is that if you don’t touch your brows, the shadows don’t smudge or fade during the day. So I can be sure that my brows will look OK.
Brunette: Swatch and my Experience
The name of my color of NYX brow powder is Brunette. I wanted a shade that will make my brows match my brown hair.
The brow kit consists of two shades of brown: the lighter and the darker one. The light color looks like light brown, but on my brows it seems very warm and orangy. So I don’t use it. The darker shade has a neutral undertone. Basically, it is the usual brown color. However, I think that it looks a bit warm on my brows. I just need something darker. I wish it were possible to test products before you bought them. I probably need a different shade.
Speaking of the wax, I noticed that it makes my brows shiny, so I avoid it. I like fixing my brows with a clear brow gel from Ardell, which is difficult to find offline.
